Online betting has become increasingly popular in India, with platforms like 10cric attracting many users interested in sports betting and casino games. However, before diving in, Indian players often ask: is 10cric legal or illegal in India?
The legal status of 10cric in India is somewhat complex. Indian gambling laws vary by state, and the Public Gambling Act of 1867 prohibits running or being in charge of a public gambling house. However, this law does not explicitly ban online betting or gambling, as it was enacted long before the internet era.
Most states have their own regulations. Some states like Sikkim and Goa have legalised certain types of betting and have frameworks for licensing. In other states, online betting remains largely unregulated, leaving the activity in a grey area. Since 10cric operates offshore, it is not licensed by Indian authorities but holds licences from international jurisdictions.
Importantly, Indian players generally do not face legal prosecution for playing on offshore betting sites like 10cric. The responsibility lies mostly with the operators who do not have Indian licences. While online betting on platforms based outside India is not officially legalised, it is widely accessible.
Users should also be aware that payment methods might vary, and withdrawing funds can sometimes be challenging depending on banking rules and payment gateways. Responsible betting is crucial, and players should ensure they understand the risks involved.
In summary, 10cric is not officially legal or illegal in India; it operates in a regulatory grey zone. Indian players should exercise caution, stay informed about local laws in their state, and always gamble responsibly.
